Olivia Wilde, the acclaimed actress and filmmaker, recalls Walton Goggins saving her from being run over by horses in 2011 while filming “Cowboys & Aliens.” The 42-year-old shared that a horse jumped into the ditch and avoided her “in the craziest way.“Coming to the rescue, the ‘Predators’ actor saw the accident and turned sideways in front of her so that other animals would crash into him and not the actress.Here’s a closer look at Olivia Wilde remembering that Walton Goggins saved her from a dangerous accident.

Olivia Wilde shares a fatal incident that could have cost her her life on the set of Jon Favreau’s 2011 Western action film. “Walt Goggins saved my life in that movie,” the Don’t Worry Darling filmmaker said, before adding, “He did. I had a very bad horse accident and he saved me. It was me and Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford galloping, like, full speed across the desert with 40 horses behind us.”While the camera was rolling, the horse jumped into a large ditch, causing the actress to lose her balance and be thrown. “I fell, hit my head and back, and I was lying [on the ground]but unfortunately I was on the other side of this sort of lip of dirt, meaning that all the horses behind it couldn’t see me,’ he said, his ears touching the ground as he listened to the herd approaching with all their might. – It sounded like thunder, as if they were coming towards me. And I thought, it sounds very dramatic, but I thought it’s going to be quick. It will be like, powdered applesauce. Out,” quipped the ‘Booksmart’ director.

Olivia Wilde shares Walton Goggins’ brave act

Walton Goggins, who is an experienced rider, came to the rescue and secured the actress on the ground. “Walt Goggins had seen [me] ahead of him and in a split second thinking to turn his horse sideways right in front of me and let everybody attack him,” Wilde continued of ‘The White Lotus’ star, who he refers to as ‘Walt.’ While he was in front, the horses had to be divided into two sides.Wrapping up the dangerous incident, he expressed his gratitude to the ‘Fallout’ star: “People split both sides around us thinking he just went crazy, but he was protecting my body on the ground. And so I owe him my life. It’s crazy. He’s a real-life hero.”As for Olivia Wilde’s latest project, her directorial venture ‘The Invite’ recently hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
