While conversing with Bill Maher on the ‘Club Random’ podcast, Spacey weighed in on the sexual assault cases that have been reported against him and how they had derailed his career in Hollywood at the time. After a brief period of time where he didn’t see any new projects due to the controversy, Spacey has said that he seems to be breaking out of that slump.He shared, “I feel much more welcome, and I think things are moving in the direction we hoped they would be.” Regarding the alleged assault cases filed against him, the actor revealed that the court ruled in his favor on almost all counts when they went before a jury. He further added: “There are certain cases where part of something is true, but it’s been rethought, redesigned or completely invented, certainly in the case of Anthony Rapp, which is a case that we won in federal court in New York.

Anthony Rapp’s allegations that the actor molested him when he was still a teenager were the first of many cases to be filed against him. During the interview, when Maher asked him about the matter and how there were too many cases, Spacey admitted that there had been times when he had crossed a line. He added: “I never said there wasn’t a fire. It just wasn’t a massive bushfire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with a fire extinguisher.He also shared that he has “paid big” for his stock over the past 9 to 10 years. “When people start to hear the facts, to understand what we won in court, I think now people look at this and think maybe nine years is enough,” he explained.Over the years, as soon as the allegations came to light, the actor faced a lot of repercussions in the industry.
