SS Rajamouli will return to the sets of his upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ after taking a short break. The director recently attended special screenings of his films in France, where he was honored at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. Interestingly, Mahesh Babu will be participating in the shoot along with around 3,500 junior artistes. According to reports, the makers are preparing for this sequence since several weeks. The war episode is said to be one of the biggest scenes that the ‘Baahubali’ director has planned for several weeks. What will be filmed on set is just the beginning.Reports further suggest that thousands of junior artists will later be multiplied through visual effects. The final version will show a much larger army than was actually filmed. About 50,000 Vanars are expected to appear on screen, making it one of the largest battle scenes attempted on screen. The gods of the Ramayana, the natural disasters and the fantastic elements. That’s the experience you’re going to have, but at the core of it all are the emotions of father and son. All this makes Varanasi for you.The film is said to be a mythological action-adventure that follows the hero’s journey across different timelines.

Cast of ‘Varanasi’

Mahesh Babu plays the role of Rudhra in the film. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will be seen as Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran will play Kumbha. The film also marks the return of Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Indian cinema after a gap of eight years.‘Varanasi’ is slated to release in theaters worldwide on April 7, 2027.
