DIKSHA becomes India’s ‘One Nation, One Digital Platform’ for school education, the Center said

The Center on Sunday said Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) has emerged as India’s “One Nation, One Digital Platform” for school learning, bringing digital tools connected to education to students and teachers across the country.Launched in 2017, the platform is managed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET). According to the government, DIKSHA supports learning from basic education and reading to higher secondary classes and has been approved by educational institutions in almost all states and Union territories.

One platform, many classes

The platform is designed to support different school systems by allowing countries to update content in regional languages ​​and integrate it into their curriculum.“DIKSHA has emerged as the country’s ‘One Nation, One Digital Platform’ for school education,” the government said, adding that it aims to ensure continuity of education through digital technology.The platform consists of videos, two-dimensional and three-dimensional animations, virtual reality, visual laboratories, simulations and Indian Sign Language videos to help students understand concepts in a variety of ways.

Learning more than books

One of DIKSHA’s key products is its QR-coded Energized Textbooks, which link the National Council of Educational Research and Training’s printed textbooks with digital content, including videos, teacher guides and learning materials.The platform also includes a Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) interface, audio and video sign language tools to make learning accessible to diverse learners.According to the government, DIKSHA supports individualized learning through practice questions, skill-based question banks, flexible assessment and detailed answers that help identify learning opportunities.

Teacher training and offline access

The platform is also used to train teachers through the National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) program and special government training. Teachers can complete independent modules online.The government said that DIKSHA follows a collaborative model, allowing states and institutions to promote and monitor their learning while quality checks are conducted by CIET-NCERT.“Students can also download materials that can be used online, while several states and Union Territories prioritize learning materials on classroom smart boards to ensure no distractions,” the government said.
