Maharashtra TET paper leak: Accused wants to sell exam paper for Rs 1.5 crore, more arrests
The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, scheduled to be held on June 28, has been postponed after the Bhiwandi police discovered that the question paper was leaked a day before the test. The police said that the accused had planned to sell the cut paper worth around Rs 1.5 crore.Speaking on the matter, the Addict Commissioner of Police (Bhiwandi), Ashok Dudhe, said that the police took action based on the information received through the informants.“The accused come to Bhiwandi to sell the examination paper. We had already received this through our informers, before they sold the paper, we laid a trap and caught them. After analyzing the seized papers, it was confirmed that they were meant to be used in the exams scheduled to be held tomorrow,” Dudhe said as reported by IANS.Deputy Commissioner of Police Pawan Bansod said the police had received tip-offs that outsiders were bringing the TET question paper to Bhiwandi before the exam.“We set a trap… after this, we arrested three accused and after searching them we found four different papers. Immediately we called the officials of the education department. After confirming the exam, we knew that the exam will be held tomorrow,” he said.According to Bansod, the investigation is still in its early stages. An FIR has been registered, and police expect more arrests as the investigation continues. The Education Department and the Thane Police have launched a joint investigation to find out who was responsible for the leak, to find out how the security of the exam was breached, and to find out if there are others involved.MSCE has assured candidates that the exam date will be announced soon.
