The makers of ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ recently unveiled the first teaser of the film, confirming that the beloved crime saga is making its leap from streaming to the big screen. The film, which hits theaters on September 4, brings together iconic characters like Kaleen Bhaiya, GudduMunna and Golu Gupta, promising fans another exciting chapter in the ‘Mirzapur’ universe. For the actors Shweta Tripathihowever, stepping back into Golu’s shoes came with an unexpected challenge. While the thrill of returning to the franchise remained intact, revisiting the innocent version of her character from Season 1 after nearly a decade was emotionally disorienting.
Revisiting Golu’s past was not easy
Speaking to India Today about the transition from the web series to film, Shweta revealed that the shooting process itself was not drastically different from filming the previous seasons of the show. According to her, the performance and pace remained almost unchanged despite the switch to the big screen.“It wasn’t hectic. In fact, the shooting took as long as it should have. So in terms of acting or acting, it was no different.”The real challenge, he explained, was traveling back in time to portray a version of Golu that hadn’t yet experienced the devastating events that transformed her over the years. After spending three seasons portraying a revenge-driven Golu, Shweta admitted that slipping back into the cheerful and carefree young woman of Season 1 was initially overwhelming.“I have spent so many years with the thrill of revenge and frustration. Sweety was gone, and Bablu died; all his dreams were swept away. And now, suddenly, Sweety is in front of you, and Bablu is here. Guddu is back to what he was… and not how Golu felt about him last season.”The actor confessed that the emotional reset did not happen overnight. “The first day, I can’t tell you how confusing it was. I didn’t understand. I was confused because I didn’t know… In the first season, Golu was a different girl. But little by little everything fell into place.” For Shweta, it was less about remembering the dialogues and more about reconnecting with a version of Golu that had existed before heartbreak, loss and revenge shaped her personality.
