Priyanka Choprawho is in the middle of shooting for SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ and is gearing up to start work on his next, made waves with his candid discussion about his journey to Hollywood.The actress, who was a speaker at the Cannes Lions panel, sat down for a chat where she talked about her ambitions to make it big in Hollywood and her desire to create her own opportunities.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Chopra said, “I always want to be authentic to myself in everything I do, but keeping people’s attention is a really tough job and you can only do that through evolution,” Chopra said.Addressing his hits and misses along the way, he said: “I can make mistakes, I’m human, I don’t get it all right. [When I started my career]he constantly sought perfection. But over time, I realized this emotional connection [to fans] I was about to say, “I was wrong”… and i think it’s ok. That emotional connection with your audience comes from being able to accept that I’m doing my best.”

Chopra also admitted that rejection has often fueled her determination to make it big in the film industry. “I’m very ambitious, and if they tell me no, I want to do it even more,” he said. “I’ve heard this from so many female colleagues: When you want to move on and there’s a glass ceiling that’s been put up for most women in entertainment, you just have to do it yourself,” she added.

Priyanka also shared the reason behind venturing into production and playing the lead in the films she supports. She said, “When I came to America, I wanted more work, to have me as the lead, to be cast in roles that I don’t think a lot of studios would imagine an Indian actor doing. So I started producing my own films.”The actress also reflected on her own struggle and shared her motivation for starting a production house. She revealed, “When I entered the film industry, I didn’t know anyone… when new people come into film and television, that’s my sweet spot. I want, as a production house, to be the shoulders for animators and creators to come out, because I created a platform and I know how difficult it is.”
