Glen Hansard’s fatal accident at the age of 56
Irish police, without naming the singer-songwriter, said the man was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Irish Independent. Hansard’s agency released a statement: “It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Glen Hansard, who died in the early hours of this morning following a road traffic accident in Dublin.”Expressing the family’s shock to Hansard, the statement continued: “Glen’s family are deeply shocked and heartbroken by this tragic loss and respectfully ask for privacy at this extremely difficult time. The family appreciate the support they have received and would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene,” before adding: “As this matter remains the subject of an active Garda investigation. [Irish Police] investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.”
