India enjoyed its best day in this edition of the Commonwealth Games on Monday, winning six medals to take its overall tally to 10. The Indian contingent will look to carry the momentum into Tuesday (July 28) with several medal hopefuls and crucial knockout competitions lined up in weightlifting, boxing, athletics and swimming. The day’s action begins in the pool, where Sajan Prakash will compete in the men’s 50m butterfly heats, while Srihari Nataraj will be in action in the 100m backstroke heats. Weightlifters aim for the podium

India’s biggest medal hopes rest on Tuesday with Nirupama Devi Seram and Harjinder Kaur, who will compete in the women’s 63kg and women’s 69kg finals respectively.Fresh from Bindyarani Devi’s bronze medal-winning performance, the Indian weightlifting team will be eager to continue their strong run at the Games.

Boxers eye semi-final spot

The boxing ring will witness a busy day for India with five quarter-finals scheduled. Preeti Pawar opens India’s campaign against Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the women’s 54kg category. She will be followed by Priya Ghanghas, who faces Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell in the women’s 60kg division.Later in the evening, Parveen Hooda takes on England’s Sacha Hickey in the women’s 65kg quarter-finals, while Jadumani Singh takes on Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale in the men’s 55kg event. Kapil Pokhariya will conclude the Indian boxing schedule with a quarter-final clash against Scotland’s Robert McNulty in the men’s 90kg category.A win in any of these matches guarantees at least a bronze medal securing a place in the semi-finals.

Athletics and paraswimming medal opportunities
