About 24,000 students who used to study in private schools have enrolled in government schools in Himachal Pradesh in the current academic year, according to the state government. The change comes as the government introduced the CBSE curriculum in government schools across the state, which it says is aimed at improving the education of the people.Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu shared these figures while addressing a public meeting at Nagrota Bagwan on Monday. He said that the students will join about 150 public schools and he said that the increase in enrollment is one way the government is doing to strengthen public schools.
The government is planning to reform the school curriculum
The chief minister said that the government is making several reforms in the education sector and hopes that public schools will undergo major changes in the next two to four years.He said that the introduction of CBSE curriculum is one of the most important steps taken to improve education in government schools. The government also said that the education reforms, along with other reforms, are aimed at making public schools more competitive and improving education.The federal government, however, did not provide annual estimates of enrollment numbers or additional data to explain the increase in enrollment.
Planned development higher medical education
Apart from school education, the government also announced measures to increase medical education in the state.According to the government, around 330 new seats have been provided in government medical colleges across Himachal Pradesh. Of these, 100 seats are planned for Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda.The government said the proposal aims to increase the number of specialized doctors who have been trained in the state and to improve access to medical care.
Improvement of clinical development on the road
The Prime Minister said the government is also upgrading medical equipment in government hospitals and medical colleges. Modern diagnostic and treatment facilities are being installed in several institutions, including RPGMC, Tanda.He said that Himachal Pradesh has introduced robotic surgery in the state. According to the government, three Tesla MRI machines have been installed in all government medical colleges, while the facility is already operational at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties (AIMSS), Chamiyana.State and regional hospitals also have 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners, PET scanners, CT scanners and cancer treatment equipment. The government says old medical equipment is being replaced as part of the ongoing renovation.
