Sixteen years after the death of legendary Malayalam actor Cochin Haneefa, his family’s dream of a permanent home has come true. The actor, remembered for making generations of Malayalam film lovers laugh, had always wanted to build a house named after his father. This dream has now been fulfilled by his family.As reported by Asianet News, the new residence, located in Vennala, Kochi, has been named ‘AB Manzil de Cochin Haneefa’. The name pays tribute to her father, AB Muhammad, whose memory Haneefa wanted her home to honor.

A beautiful house built with memories of the actor

The newly built home sits on a compact plot but has been designed to maximize space and comfort. It includes five bedrooms and features elegant interiors. Although the building appears to be two stories from the outside, it offers the layout and amenities of a three-story home.The house has also been designed as a tribute to the late actor. Its walls display various photographs from Haneefa’s life and career. His awards and precious mementos have also been carefully preserved throughout the residence.

A difficult journey after the death of Cochin Haneefa

Cochin Haneefa died in February 2010, leaving behind his wife Fasila and twin daughters, Safa and Marva, who were only four at the time.The couple had become parents after 12 years of marriage. After the actor’s death, several people advised Fasila to return to her hometown. However, she decided to stay in Kerala because she wanted to stay in the place she had become home to because of her husband.For the next 16 years, the family lived in a rented house in Kadavanthra while facing financial and legal problems.

Legal aid helped the family build their house

Reports say that after Cochin Haneefa’s death, several of his assets were tied up in legal proceedings. The family had to wait for years before these issues could finally be resolved.The legal hurdles ended after Safa and Marva turned 18, allowing the family to regain control of the actor’s properties. This urbanization made it possible to build the long-awaited house.The new residence is located on Ambedkar Road in Vennala and is called ‘AB Manzil de Cochin Haneefa’.

During his most difficult years, actor Dileep allowed Haneefa’s Toyota Innova to be used on his film sets. The income generated by the vehicle became the family’s main source of livelihood as they rebuilt their lives.
