Chris Anne Affleck dies at 83
On July 23, the Affleck family mourned the loss of their matriarch, Chris Anne Affleck, as they shared an obituary in the Boston Globe newspaper. The family confirmed the news that he had gone to his heavenly abode on June 2. Six months earlier, the family had confirmed that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was receiving treatment. An obituary statement read that one of Anne’s “greatest wishes after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate from high school. He did, attending with his family on May 31, 2026. He died peacefully, in his sleep, two days later.”The obituary also mentioned how her grandchildren, Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin and Sam were “the cheering force of her last two decades.”

Chris Anne Affleck led her own successful life and was an accomplished teacher during her time. He was born in New York City in December 1942 and graduated from Harvard University. For about 35 years she worked as a public school teacher until 2008, when she officially retired from the working world. She was also a well-known social activist during her tenure, and was even one of the first and original freedom runners to enter the segregated southern United States during the 1960s.She and Timothy Affleck were welcomed Ben Affleck in 1972, and his brother, Casey Affleck in 1975. In an old interview, the ‘Batman’ actor had shared some details about his mother’s career with The Hollywood Reporter. At the time he had stated that, “My mother taught public school, went to Harvard and then got her master’s degree there and taught fifth and sixth grade in a public school. My father had a more working-class lifestyle. He didn’t go to college. He was an auto mechanic and a waiter and janitor at Harvard.“Anne was one of her children’s biggest supporters. When Ben showed interest in acting, she was the one who connected him with former Harvard roommate and casting director Patty Collins. She was the reason for his start in the acting industry in commercials and small TV films. When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon brought their mothers to the Oscars after being nominated for ‘Good Will Hunting’, there was a lot of commentary on the matter. Speaking to Vanity Fair in another interview, the ‘Paycheck’ actor had commented: “We were sitting next to our mums and we won, and we hugged our mums. I remember how everyone made such a big deal out of it like this was new. I remember thinking, being insecure, like, ‘Why?
