Elon Musk Says Grok Imagine Will Make ‘Historically Accurate’ ‘Odyssey’ Movie

CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk finally has something to say Christopher Nolan‘The Odyssey’, a first since Tom Holland and the Matt Damon-starrer epic opened in theaters. In a social media post, Musk claimed that his AI tool Grok Imagine will make a “historically accurate” feature-length film of “The Odyssey” by the end of 2026.“Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a feature-length film of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to Homer’s art,” read the tweet, posted alongside an AI-generated clip from Nolan’s film.In a reply to another post, the businessman also shared his openness to giving director Mel Gibson a $100 million budget to make a historically accurate retelling of the Greek epic. One netizen proposed: “I want Elon Musk to give Mel Gibson $100 million to film an Odyssey adaptation with very historically accurate ships, armor, weapons and casting, with all the dialogue taken directly from the original poem and delivered in Homeric Greek.”Reacting to the post, Musk said: “I’m gutted.”It should be noted that the comment came months after Musk criticized Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, for the casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy. Reacting to the casting on social media platform X, conservative commentator Matt Walsh wrote: “No one on the planet really thinks Lupita Nyong’o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’. But Christopher Nolan knows he’d be called a racist if he cast the role of ‘the most beautiful woman’ to a white woman.”Reacting to the post, Musk commented: “It’s true.”Earlier this month, ahead of the film’s release, Musk shared an AI-generated trailer for “Iliad,” inspired by Homer’s epic tale of the Trojan War, created with xAI’s recently released Grok Imagine 1.5 video generation model. Posting the video on his handle, he praised the technology behind the project. In response to Musk, Twitter handle Heavy Pulp wrote: “Had so much fun putting this together for you all!” Musk, apparently impressed by the results, came up with a more ambitious idea, replying: “Do you want to make a full movie?”Based on Homer’s epic poem, ‘The Odyssey’ follows the story of Odysseus and his long journey home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon in the title role, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and an ensemble cast.
