Among some of the stars of the South Indian film industry, actor Prakh Raj has spoken a lot about the issue. He has been sharing his support through social media posts and even reached out at the time.In one of his publications, Prakash Raj wrote: “The world is witnessing a cowardly government that does not want to dialogue with the youth, but wants to behave like dictators. To forcibly remove @Wangchuk66 and disrupt the peaceful protest of students is a sign of fear. What a SHAME #justasking.”Later, after activist and pedagogue Sonam Wangchuk He was moved by the police authorities, the actor shared another post which read, “Parde ke peeche kya hai, Chappan inch ka Dara hua Nangapan. The actor reacts after visiting the protest site
The ‘Singham’ actor later arrived at Jantar Mantar to support the protest led by the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Sharing a video from the protest site, she wrote: “The youth of our country are #justasking.”During the march, thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party marched to Delhi, demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister. Later reports suggested police stopped the march with barricades and clashes broke out as protesters tried to advance. Some protesters also claimed to have been injured during the baton charges.After witnessing the situation, Prakash Raj shared another video and wrote, “I witnessed the brutality of the authoritarian regime on the youth of my country. Shocked… and deeply disturbed. Tanashahi nahi chalegi. The country has woken up. This is just the beginning.”On the other hand, on July 19, filmmaker Pa Ranjith also shared his support for Sonam Wangchuk and the protesters. He shared a lengthy message on social media after Wangchuk was taken to a hospital during his 21-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.
Pa Ranjith extends his solidarity
In his statement, Pa Ranjith wrote on his X handle, “In solidarity with #SonamWangchuk, the #CockroachJantaParty and all the protesters at #JantarMantar.”He further wrote: “Condemnation against state intervention in the peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar. The use of force against protesters, the arrest of supporters and the decision to transfer innovator and activist Sonam Wangchuk to hospital during her 21-day hunger strike are deeply disturbing.”Speaking about the reason for the protest, he added, “Sonam Wangchuk’s struggle reflects the anger, anxiety and uncertainty that millions of young people across the country have been forced to endure. Repeated allegations of paper leaks, failures in the examination system and the absence of accountability have put the dreams and futures of countless students at stake.”
Demand responsibility
Pa Ranjith also said that the concerns raised by students and protesters should be addressed through dialogue instead of force. He wrote: “Instead of responding to these concerns, the government has chosen to suppress peaceful democratic dissent.”He further added, “With the future of the nation at stake, the onus is on the Union Education Minister and the BJP-led Union government to respond responsibly, not forcefully.”The ‘Thangalaan’ director has also expressed his support for the participants in the protest march.
