As the paper leak forced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 to be conducted again, many candidates were left wondering if months of preparation had been wasted.For Uplakshya Goyal, who got All India Rank (AIR) 3 in the re-evaluation, the uncertainty did not last long.After the first disappointment, he decided to take a different approach with the second test.“It was doubtful whether the results would have any value after working so hard. After that, I saw the search as an opportunity to correct my mistakes,” said Goyal. PTI.His strategy paid off. The review ended with one of the country’s leaders.
A habit built around a single goal
Goyal said preparing for the medical entrance exam meant putting aside everything else.He studied for 10 to 12 hours every day, avoided family activities and socializing, and focused on becoming a doctor.“The greatest joy is seeing my parents happy. They always support me.” The result, he said, was as much a reflection of that support as it was of his preparation.
Tips for future NEET aspirants
Looking back on his preparation, Goyal said there is no shortcut to success.He advised the future students to trust their teachers, answer questions regularly and go for regular check-ups to build self-confidence.“Students should trust their teachers, practice questions regularly and take tests regularly,” he said PTI.His advice comes after a series of counseling sessions as many students prepare to join medical colleges following the declaration of NEET UG results.
The family says he has not forgotten his purpose
For Goyal’s parents, the position marked the end of a journey that had one clear goal from the beginning.His father, Mukesh Goyal, said his son always planned to clear NEET in the first attempt without taking a year off.“He always wanted to be a doctor. Even when he lost his papers, he remained interested. We knew from his preparation that he would do well,” he said. PTI.His mother, Anuradha Goyal, said the family saw him giving up socializing to focus on his studies and pursue his goal of studying at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).“Even though he was disappointed after the paper was leaked, he regained his confidence and continued to work hard,” he said. PTI.He said that Goyal often helps friends with their academic doubts and believes that determination and dedication are the foundation of success.
From uncertainty to another dimension
For many candidates, the paper leak turned out to be the defining moment of the 2026 NEET UG cycle. For Goyal, it changed.Instead of letting the doubt get in the way of his preparation, he chose to see the rehearsal as another opportunity. This decision has now placed him in the top three positions in the country as thousands of high achievers prepare for the next step in the legal process.
