Speaking on a podcast, she revealed that the lack of period awareness terrified her when she was young. The singer said she initially mistook her first period for a serious illness and believed she had it cancer.

In a conversation with Haterrfly, Jasmine shared that menstruation was never discussed at home before she hit puberty. Although her school later introduced the subject, she admitted she was still not ready when she had her first period.Recalling the incident, Jasmine said she was studying in class 7 and living in New Jersey when it happened. “I thought I had cancer. I thought I was going to die. I was so scared. I didn’t know how to tell my mom,” Jasmine said. She added that many girls suffer from a similar fear because they are not educated about menstruation at the right time. Reflecting on the experience, Jasmine said: “Periods are such a beautiful thing. But when you don’t know what’s going on with your body, it can be the scariest experience.”
