Actor and comedian Vir Das opened up about missing out on a role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming film ‘Digger’. After the first trailer of the Tom Cruise starrer was released on Monday, Das shared his reaction to X and later took down the post. Das wrote, “He did two auditions for it. They went with Riz Ahmed. He was really down, but that’s life. This script is crazy, in a good way.” The candid admission showed her graceful acceptance of not getting the role.

The movie ‘Digger’ follows Digger Rockwell, described as the world’s most powerful CEO, who goes on a desperate mission to convince humanity that he is its savior after his own actions trigger a catastrophic global disaster. For the role, Cruise undergoes a major physical transformation. He appears with a thick southern accent, beer belly and slicked-back white hair, a striking departure from his usual on-screen persona.
A powerful cast
The supporting cast includes John Goodman as an ailing US president who urges Rockwell to address the crisis. The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman, Robert John Burke and Michael Stuhlbarg. The project will open in theaters on October 2, giving audiences something to look forward to.
