The University of Delhi (DU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs to increase cooperation in cyber security, intelligence and capacity building.The agreement was signed on Monday at the Council Room of the Vice Regal Lodge at Delhi University campus by DU Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta and I4C Director Nishant Kumar.
Focus on cyber awareness
The agreement aims to establish a strong cyber security system within the university through awareness campaigns, conferences, seminars and student related programs.The two organizations have also worked together on campaigns, competitions, internships, cyber volunteering efforts and cyber security education. Cooperation will encourage University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced cyber security education and encouraged knowledge sharing between government and students.
Developing skills for students
University officials said the partnership aims to improve students’ understanding of cybercrime prevention and cyber hygiene while creating opportunities to participate in research and practical training.The agreement was led by Prof. Sanjeev Singh. At the signing ceremony there was Prof. K. Ratnabali and officials from DU and I4C.The partnership comes at a time when universities are expanding cyber security education beyond the classroom through industry and government partnerships.
