Filmmaker and actor Shashi Ranjan has opened up about the movie ‘Satluj’ and its removal from the OTT platform. Praising the film’s storytelling and emotional depth, he called it one of the best films he has come across in recent times. Recently, he noted its powerful narrative and strong performances. On the removal of the film from the OTT, Shashi Ranjan expressed his disagreement with the ban on films rooted in historical themes, adding that such restrictions often fuel greater public curiosity. He further added that portraying history through cinema does not mislead today’s well-informed youth and expressed hope that the film will soon return to a digital platform.

Speaking to IANS, Shashi stated, “After a long time, I saw a film that gave me a triple reaction. First, I was very emotional after watching the film. Second, I was completely blown away by the story and the way it has been made. After so many years, I came across a film with such a beautiful narrative and such powerful emotions. watched.”“I believe that banning any kind of film does no good; instead, it causes more harm. When a film is banned, it creates curiosity among people as to why it was banned. I don’t think that showing the story to today’s youth will lead them in the wrong direction. I strongly disagree with that notion. There have been many films that have brought out the darkest audiences in history. After watching a film like this I think it is unfortunate that the film has been pulled from OTT platforms and I hope it makes a comeback soon,” Shashi Ranjan added.
‘Satluj’ and its removal from OTT
Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Satluj’ (earlier titled Punjab ’95) was pulled from streaming platform ZEE5 in India just 48 hours after its release. This abrupt withdrawal followed concerns expressed by government authorities regarding the film’s depiction of alleged police excesses in Punjab during the 1990s. Within hours of being pulled from OTT, the film surfaced online through leaks.
